| Description | : | The Maharaja Sir Jatindra Mohan Tagore medal was created in 1883 by the Maharaja himself as an annual prize for the encouragement of legal study. A gold medal was awarded to the student standing first in the course delivered by the Tagore Law Professor and a silver medal to the student coming second. Each medal could have been issued sixty-four times up to independence. Record was found at the University of Calcutta but no record was found in the Calcutta Mint die impression registers to which the author had access. |
