The illustrated bronze specimen was awarded to : MR J. WHITEHEAD, I.F.S. / FOR / COLLECTION / OF / CHINKARA HEADS. The United Provinces of Agra and Oudh lay in practically the centre of upper India. The larger towns were names prominent in the British history of India: Cawnpore, Allahabad, Benares, Lucknow, Agra. When this medal was struck, the Province was under the administration of a Lieutenant-Governor chosen from the ranks of the Indian Civil Service. The Princess of Bhavnagar won a gold medal at this exhibition for ‘Group of Exhibits’ most importantly the lace-work embroidery. |
