Dadabhoy was a pioneer of steam navigation in western India, along with his partner Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy. Through Dadabhoy’s foresight and energy the steamer, Sir James Rivett-Carnac, was the first Bombay steamer plying the western coast of India. He started business as a broker and agent making advances on coffee, sugar and coconut on estates on the Malabar Coast. He was instrumental in starting three banks in Bombay and was a trustee of the Great India Peninsular Railway. He was a large contributor to charities of all kinds especially to those establishing schools. |
