Nagpur was the leading city in the Central Provinces at the time of this exhibition and was developing as the chief centre of a busy cotton spinning and weaving industry, particularly after the start-up of the Empress Mills in 1877, which still exists. Nagpur is now in the state of Maharashtra. |
