The North-Western Provinces (not to be confused with the North West Frontier Province) were part of the Bengal Presidency. In 1834, called Agra Province, and in 1836, the North-Western Provinces, they obtained a lieutenant-governor and ceased to be administered from Calcutta. This area eventually became the United Province. |
