Frontal depiction of Grant Medical College in centre with a ribbon above on which is engraved the reason for the award either SURGERY or ANATOMY, around upper border : PRIZE MEDAL, lower border : GRANT MEDICAL COLLEGE.
Award and date on edge, example : J.R. VAKIL 1896. Awarded medals are suspended from a claw and scroll bar. It is believed this portrait was discontinued near the turn of the century, replaced by the obverse of 894.2.2. Almost certainly produced in the Bombay Mint but not confirmed.
Brigade-Surgeon Wellington Gray was Principal of Grant Medical College around 1889. |
