Dr Cawas Lalcaca, a Parsi from Bombay, sacrificed his life in a vain attempt to save the life of Sir Curzon Wyllie, political ADC to Lord Morley, Secretary of State for India. Lalcaca was one of the guests of the National Indian Association at the Jehangir Hall, Imperial Institute, London, on 1 July 1909, when a Panjabi student, Madan Lal Dhingra, successfully shot Wyllie. Dr Lalcaca, standing close by, tried to interpose himself to save Wyllie but was killed as well. |
