Description:obv. The large figure of the goddess of plenty with flowers spilling out of a cornucopia in her hand dominates the obverse, rev : Around border : MADRAS AGRI-HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY. Within a laurel wreath space for award.
Sample award : AWARDED TO / EARDLEY NORTON Esq. / FOR CANNAS / 1904. Eardley Norton was one of the ablest and most distinguished lawyers in India who led the prosecutions against ‘sedition and anarchy’ in Bengal. Agri-Horticultural Society medals were usually distributed by E.M. & Sons and P. Orr & Sons both of Madras. The likelihood is that this medal, and the previous, were made in the Bombay Mint but they were not traced in the die impression registers at the mint.
